Alyssa's Favorite Taylor Swift song

 

Since I have been an avid Taylor Swift fan since 2012 many of her songs are my favorite. It's tough to break down which exact song is my favorite. However, one song that has forever stuck with me is from her first album "Taylor Swift." This song is "Our Song". This has stuck with me because it's one of those songs where you know all of the lyrics no matter how long it's been since you listened to it.

Our song is about Taylor's experiences with her relationships in high school. At the time she was dating a guy, and they didn't have a song. So, she wrote how she felt about him in it. she said she wrote this to be an upbeat song that many people could relate to. This is true, even if you are not in a relationship, it's still a fun song to listen to. 

 It has a country melodic feel to it and reminds me of a time when I was obsessed with country. One of the cool things about this song is that Taylor included Banjo in it. There are not many songs out there that can successfully add banjo into it, and she was able to. It adds a cute little quirk to it that you wouldn't expect. Taylor Swift said "I just sat down one day with my guitar and got in a groove and went with it. I like to write about how music affects people, and this was fun to write because it’s about a couple who DOESN’T have a song. I like the banjo and you really can’t go wrong with banjo." 

This song has forever been a favorite because no matter what mood you're in it has such an upbeat feel that it can make you happy. Songs have an ability to affect our emotions, and this is one that makes you feel happy.
